ROUTE UPDATES: Azul expands Argentina & Uruguay connections with Brazil


Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras entered the Argentina - Brazil air travel market in March 2016 and has not stopped growing since, steadily adding new gateways in Argentina during the last two years.  Service to Uruguay has also increased.

Summer 2018 - Seasonal Service - Scheduled

Azul was reported to be planning the following routes during the southern hemisphere summer months and presumably operated them though planned service occasionally does not materialize as announced:

Sao Paulo Viracopos (VCP) - Punta del Este (PDP) - eff 21Dec17 - 04Feb18

Flights to the popular Uruguayan summer resort.

Porto Alegre (POA) - Punta del Este (PDP) - eff 21Dec17 - 04Jan18

Flights to the popular Uruguayan summer resort.

* Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) - Navegantes (NVT) - eff 11Dec17 - 04Mar18

1x/daily until 17Feb18 and 4x/weekly until 04Mar18 operated with E195's.

NOTE:  Above service has been extended indefinitely on a 4x/weekly basis.

ROUTE UPDATES: Gol added new service from Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) to several Brazilian beach destinations


Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes of Brazil added new service from Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) to several Brazilian beach destinations earlier this year.  

* Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) - Maceio (MCZ) - eff March 2016

This new service is actually an extension of Gol's existing Ezeiza to Salvador de Bahia (SSA) flights operating 1x/weekly on Saturdays using 737-800's.  

* Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) - Recife (REC) - eff 27Mar16

Operating 1x/weekly on Saturdays using 737-800's. 

* Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) - Porto Seguro (BPS) - eff March 2016

Operating 1x/weekly on Sundays using 737-800's. 

As of March 2016, Gol operated 76 weekly flights connecting the following airports in Argentina and Brazil:

ROUTE UPDATES: New Montevideo (MVD) Service Announcements in 2016 - PART 1

New service announcements for Montevideo (MVD) in 2016 - Part 1:




Iberia - Montevideo (MVD) - Madrid (MAD) increasing 3x to 5x Weekly - eff 03Feb16

Iberia recently increased its nonstop service between these two cities and now operates this route using its new A330-200's.  

The Spanish airline flew the route several years ago only to cancel the service in 2013 which was replaced soon thereafter by Air Europa.  After Iberia underwent some restructuring, it restarted flights between Spain and Uruguay on 01Sep14 using A340-300's and today both airlines operate the route with A330-200's with 8x/weekly flights between them.      



Amaszonas Paraguay - Montevideo (MVD) - Asuncion (ASU) - eff 18Mar16

The Paraguayan affiliate of Amaszonas Bolivia started service between the Uruguayan and Paraguayan capitals in March using CRJ-200's on a 3x/weekly basis.  Subsequent to this new service, the Amaszonas Group took the remains of BQB Lineas Aereas that it acquired in 2015 and used them to formally establish Amaszonas Uruguay, which currently also flies the Montevideo (MVD) - Asuncion (ASU) route 7x/weekly, complementing Amaszonas Paraguay's service for a total of 10x/weekly flights on the route by airlines from the group. 



Gol Transportes Aereos - Montevideo (MVD) - Recife (REC) - eff June 2016 

Gol recently started 1x/weekly service on Saturdays between the Uruguayan capital and the northeastern Brazilian city of Recife using 737-800's.

ROUTE UPDATE: TAM added 1x/weekly A320 service between Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) and Recife (REC)

TAM added 1x/weekly A320 service from Recife (REC) to Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) on Saturdays, returning to Recife on Sundays, effective 24Jan15. The five-hour nonstop flight is expected to stimulate tourist traffic between Argentina and the northeastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco.
