ROUTE UPDATES: 50% of Buenos Aires Aeroparque (AEP) international flights move to Ezeiza (EZE) (except Uruguayan flights)

As announced in July 2017, all international flights operating from Buenos Aires Aeroparque (AEP) (with the exception of flights to Uruguay) will be transferred to Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) in two phases, effective in 2018 and 2019.

The first phase commenced on 03May18 with the total number of international flights to Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay operating from Aeroparque being reduced from 222 to 112 operations weekly.  Reductions by airline in terms of weekly flights: 

Aerolineas Argentinas / Austral - 120 to 60 

LATAM Argentina / Brasil / Chile - 70 to 35 

Gol Linhas Aereas - 21 to 11 

Amaszonas Paraguay - 11 to 6 

Aerolineas Argentinas transferred its flights bound for Porto Alegre (POA), Río de Janeiro Galeao (GIG), Salvador de Bahía (SSA) and Santa Cruz de la Sierra (VVI) from Aeroparque to Ezeiza.

Aerolineas will continue to operate from Buenos Aires Aeroparque (AEP) to Asuncion (ASU), Curitiba (CWB), Sao Paulo Guarulhos (GRU), and Santiago (SCL) until 2019. 

The remaining 50% of international flights by all carriers are due to be moved on 01Apr19.

The purpose of the big move is to free up ramp space and to a certain extent air operations capacity at Buenos Aires Aeroparque (AEP) for the increasing number of Argentine domestic flights being added by carriers under the present government's policy of doubling the number of Argentine air travelers in the foreseeable future.

ROUTE UPDATES: Amaszonas, Amaszonas Paraguay, Amaszonas Uruguay

* Montevideo (MVD) - Cordoba (COR) - eff 27Sep17 - 3x/weekly

This route started approx. one month later than originally planned.  Amaszonas Uruguay was scheduled to take on a third CRJ-200 for route expansion but managed to start this new service with its existing fleet of two CRJ-200's; CX-SDU (c/n 7209) and CX-LVA (c/n 7561), not having taken delivery of a third aircraft to this day.

* Asuncion (ASU) - Corrientes (CNQ) - eff 30Nov17 - 3x/weekly

Operated with Paraguayan-registered CRJ-200's from the fleet of parent airline Amaszonas Linea Aerea of Bolivia.  However, this service is scheduled to be discontinued soon and might already have ceased. 

* Santa Cruz de la Sierra (VVI) - Cordoba (COR)  - eff 13Dec17 - 3x/weekly

Operated with CRJ-200's from the fleet of 11 of the type belonging to the parent Amaszonas Linea Aerea of Bolivia.   

* Asuncion (ASU) - Punta del Este (PDP) - eff 26Dec17 - 3x/weekly

Service that was scheduled on a seasonal summer basis that is presumed to have taken place (unconfirmed by blog editor).   Operated with Paraguayan-registered CRJ-200's from the fleet of parent airline Amaszonas Linea Aerea of Bolivia. 

* Asuncion (ASU) - Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) - eff 02May18 - 6x/weekly

Operated with Paraguayan-registered CRJ-200's from the fleet of parent airline Amaszonas Linea Aerea of Bolivia.

ROUTE UPDATE: Flyest flying Buenos Aires Aeroparque (AEP) - Asuncion (ASU) for Amaszonas Paraguay

At least during the week of Monday 10Jul17, Flyest, the Argentinean airline that is the reincarnation of Sol Lineas Aereas, flew some rotations on behalf of Amaszonas Paraguay on the Buenos Aires Aeroparque (AEP) - Asuncion (ASU) route.   This appears to be an outgrowth of the relationship that the Spanish carrier Air Nostrum had with Sol and Amaszonas Paraguay, which is a joint venture between Air Nostrum and Amaszonas Linea Aerea of Bolivia.   

Sol ceased operations on 16Jan16 when subsidies that it was receiving from Aerolineas Argentinas were abruptly cut off by the new administration of the national carrier put in place by the incoming government of Argentine president Mauricio Macri.  Sol had flown several Saab 340's since it started operations in August 2006 plus three CRJ-200's that it acquired under a joint venture agreement with Air Nostrum in the final months of 2015.

Two of the three CRJ-200's flew back to Spain but the third, LV-GIJ (c/n 7466), was stored in Asuncion (ASU) until 07Mar17 when it flew back to Buenos Aires Aeroparque (AEP).  The aircraft sports the basic Austral colors that it wore while flying for Sol under the Aerolineas subsidies but with Flyest titles added.  The airplane is apparently still the property of Air Nostrum .             

Amaszonas Paraguay also flies CRJ-200's so it is natural for Flyest to fly subservices for the Paraguayan carrier.  It will be interesting to see where this cooperation will lead.  Maybe an Amaszonas Argentina joint venture between Air Nostrum and Amaszonas Linea Aerea using Flyest as a platform ?

ROUTE UPDATE: Amaszonas Paraguay started Asuncion (ASU) - Buenos Aires Aeroparque (AEP) flights today, 20Apr17

Amaszonas Paraguay introduced new service from Asuncion (ASU) to Buenos Aires Aeroparque (AEP) on 20Apr17 with flights being operated 2x/daily using CRJ-200's.  

The carrier will join Aerolineas Argentinas / Austral E190's that currently service this route 1x/daily and LATAM Paraguay A320's that link Asuncion (ASU) with Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE), also 1x/daily.

ROUTE UPDATES: New Montevideo (MVD) Service Announcements in 2016 - PART 1

New service announcements for Montevideo (MVD) in 2016 - Part 1:

* Iberia - Montevideo (MVD) - Madrid (MAD) increasing 3x to 5x Weekly - eff 03Feb16

Iberia recently increased its nonstop service between these two cities and now operates this route using its new A330-200's.  

The Spanish airline flew the route several years ago only to cancel the service in 2013 which was replaced soon thereafter by Air Europa.  After Iberia underwent some restructuring, it restarted flights between Spain and Uruguay on 01Sep14 using A340-300's and today both airlines operate the route with A330-200's with 8x/weekly flights between them.      

* Amaszonas Paraguay - Montevideo (MVD) - Asuncion (ASU) - eff 18Mar16

The Paraguayan affiliate of Amaszonas Bolivia started service between the Uruguayan and Paraguayan capitals in March using CRJ-200's on a 3x/weekly basis.  Subsequent to this new service, the Amaszonas Group took the remains of BQB Lineas Aereas that it acquired in 2015 and used them to formally establish Amaszonas Uruguay, which currently also flies the Montevideo (MVD) - Asuncion (ASU) route 7x/weekly, complementing Amaszonas Paraguay's service for a total of 10x/weekly flights on the route by airlines from the group. 

* Gol Transportes Aereos - Montevideo (MVD) - Recife (REC) - eff June 2016 

Gol recently started 1x/weekly service on Saturdays between the Uruguayan capital and the northeastern Brazilian city of Recife using 737-800's.
