The aircraft's economy-class will be in a 3-3-3 configuration with 48 seats in Main Cabin Extra (up to 6 inches of extra legroom) and 150 seats in its Main Cabin. Business Class will feature 28 fully lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 configuration plus a walk-up bar with snacks and refreshments.
American has firm orders for 42 787's with 12 expected to be delivered this year, three in each quarter. The airline holds options on a further 58 787's.
The 787-8 will replace the larger-capacity 777-200 on the DFW - EZE route, suggesting a softening of traffic for American in the USA-Argentina market or at least on that route, which could be the case with the Argentine economy slowing down and Argentines comprising the vast majority of travelers between the two countries.
